Website Due Date:Thursday, 5/8/08
Imagine that you work for a small web design company, and that you have been put in charge of planning and creating a new web site for a new client. In this assignment, you will be creating a fictitious client who wants this web site built, and then following the steps in the process of planning and creating the web site.
The Client: Create a fictitious client who works for a company or organization that needs a web site. Spend some time thinking about who the client is and what his/her needs are for the web site based on his/her organization's needs.
Create a brief written explanation of the client and the organization's web needs. Who is the audience for this site and what do they need to know that the web site can provide? Be specific and clear in your writing. Submit that before proceeding with the next steps.
* Example: check out this website, http://www.readertoreader.org/ Who is the client running the organization? What needs did he have for his web site? What kind of web site is this?
Creating the web site:
- Brainstorm a list of ideas or use Inspiration to create a web of ideas for the web site based on the client's needs. Submit the brainstorm.
- Use Powerpoint to create a storyboard of the web site to show the client. This is a series of sketches that show your ideas for the web site.
- Submit the revised sketches to me for feedback.
- Once I give you the ok on the sketches, begin creating the web site.
Remember our discussions of good design.
- Use the Web Design Criteria Handout handout as a guide for building the site.

Planning the site:

- Think about the audience. Who are they? Young people? Older people? What can you do to make the site more appealing to this particular audience?
- How many pages will you need?
- What kind of structure will work best for this site?
